A Real Document Scanner, Minus the App and the Upload

Scanner apps have a dirty secret: the "free" ones process your paperwork on their servers, and paperwork is the most sensitive thing you own: leases, IDs, medical forms, contracts, tax letters. This scanner does everything the apps do, in the browser, on your device. Tap Take a photo and your phone camera opens directly; snap the page, drag four corners onto its edges, and a true perspective correction squares it up like it was shot dead-on. The black-and-white scan filter then does what real scanners do, crisp text on clean white, even when the photo had shadows.

Stack as many pages as you need, reorder them, give each its own look, and export one PDF in A4, Letter, or a size matched to your photos. On a phone you can share the PDF straight into email or a chat, and any single page can be saved to your photos as an image. Nothing installs, nothing uploads, nothing is stored after you leave.

Common questions

How do I scan a document with my phone for free?

Open this page, tap Take a photo, and snap the document; the camera opens directly with no app install. Drag the corners onto the page edges, pick the B&W scan filter, and download or share the PDF. The whole thing takes under a minute.

How do I turn a photo into a PDF?

Add the photo, straighten if needed, choose a filter, and press Download PDF. Multiple photos become multiple pages in one file, in the order shown in the page list.

Is this safer than scanner apps?

Yes, structurally: there is no server to trust. The straightening, filtering, and PDF assembly all run in your browser, so a lease or an ID card never travels anywhere. When you close the tab, nothing remains.

Why does the black-and-white filter look better than just desaturating?

It thresholds each pixel against its own neighborhood (adaptive thresholding), which is how real scanners produce black text on white paper even when half the photo is in shadow. A simple grayscale keeps the shadows; the scan filter removes them.

Can I scan several pages into one PDF?

Yes. Each photo becomes a page with its own corners and filter; reorder or delete pages in the list, then export a single PDF in A4, Letter, or a size matched to the photos.
